Until recently, the only reliable way to create an external bootable disk on an M1 Mac has been to install Big Sur on it, either in recoveryOS or using the full Installer app. The latest version 6 of Carbon Copy Cloner can now use macOS tools to make a full clone of a Big Sur System Volume Group, although this is no longer recommended. This article explores how successful making full clones can be, specifically whether you can use them to assemble a multi-boot disk containing multiple versions of Big Sur.
I've just added UBCD, Trinity RCD, and Falcon4's UBCD to my original Hirens. Made it usb bootable. Took some tips from RMusbPrep Opens a new window, added some handy Linux distros such as Kali and Tails and made it easy to upgrade (simply swap iso's) when I find new versions. PortableAppsPlatform Opens a new window added some postboot utility that is easy to update. Put that all down on a neatly partitioned 32gb SD inside a highly compatible usb sd reader and voila! My own variant that is easily manageable. I have it boot into an isolinux environment with the option to switch to grub4dos, this adds more flexibility and boot options. I have too many tools, but is too many tools really a problem. I would love to be able to share this great tool but digging through the licensing would be treacherous, I suggest you dig into your Hirens and tailor it to your needs.
Knoppix is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. Knoppix can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue software, or adapted and used as a platform for commercial software product demos. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk. Due to on-the-fly decompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable software installed on it.
SystemRescueCd is a Linux system rescue disk with recovery softwares available as a bootable CD-ROM or USB stick for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash. It aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the hard disk partitions. 153554b96e
