Robot Framework uses the tag along with and tags to define a test case. Test case defintions are part of the Robot Framework syntax and are mentioned in the language reference. A simple testcase definition can be seen below:

The test execution is mostly managed by the TestExecution and TestCaseExecution keywords. These keywords return results for the testexecution. In addition to the test libraries, all test suites created from testcase files contain a TestSuite initialization file. The init filecontains information about the test cases contained in the testsuite as well as the code to run the test. The name of theinit file has to match the test suite name. Any keyword arguments passed to the library are available in the testsuite to which the library was imported. This is true forimported libraries and variable files, as well as for imports specifiedusing the Import library setting.

When creating library files, the Library keyword provides somearguments that can be used to specify the location of the library.If a single library is to be used across multiple test cases, the pathto the library can be specified in the Library argument. If multiplelibraries are to be used, the argument is used to specify a directorystructure where the libraries are to be imported. If the library issources, the source directory can be specified in the PathToLibraryargument. The source directory can also be included in the ImportLibraries setting.

Finally, the keyword Set Default Value for Test Variable allows youto set a default value for a variable. The default value isused when the variable is not set at all, or if a variable with thesame name already exists.

In this Robot framework tutorial we will create a simple keyword, passing a URL to it. In our test case, we would like to verify that the received URL is correct.The keyword will be executed on each remote server executing the test case. Therefore, our test case will be executed by the Robot framework to verify one URL against the requirement.
